Dream drift no. 4
Black ceramics sculpture / 2024
€800.00
"Dream Drift" explores the patterns of human dreaming—our longing for distant, sometimes unattainable goals. Inspired by observing the dreams of those around me, I noticed a common theme: people often set their sights on distant visions, such as the perfect house or ideal life, but rarely take the small, clear steps needed to reach them.
The soft, flowing forms and interconnected bubbles of these sculptures symbolize this journey. Each bubble represents a step toward achieving our dreams—acquiring new skills, gathering experiences, and building foundations that bring us closer to our goals.
The abstract shapes encourage reflection: dreams are not unreachable, but they require movement, growth, and intention. "Dream Drift" reminds us that the path to any dream is formed through small, grounded steps.
Material: Clay, fired in a black ceramics kiln
Measurements: ± 33 x 24 x 49 cm
Weight: ± 6,1 kg
Black ceramics, one of the oldest forms of clay firing, has been known since Neolithic times but is now a dying art. The process involves slowly raising the temperature of a kiln buried in the ground to extract moisture before adding firewood to start the fuming process. As the clay absorbs smoke and fines, its pores close, resulting in a unique and unrepeatable black finish. This process takes days and is subject to the unpredictable elements of nature, making each creation a one-of-a-kind piece.
