My daughter's birth number is 8, so this number holds a very special place in my heart. I wanted to share its significance with you through this sculptural black ceramic candle holder, designed to hold 8 candles. It represents not just luck and prosperity, but also the balance and infinite possibilities in life.

Black ceramics, one of the oldest forms of clay firing, has been known since Neolithic times but is now a dying art. The process involves slowly raising the temperature of a kiln buried in the ground to extract moisture before adding firewood to start the fuming process. As the clay absorbs smoke and fines, its pores close, resulting in a unique and unrepeatable black finish. This process takes days and is subject to the unpredictable elements of nature, making each creation a one-of-a-kind piece.
